So Judas, procuring a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4 Then Jesus, knowing all that was to befall him, came forward and said to them, "Whom do you seek?"
5 They answered him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am he." Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.
6 When he said to them, "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground.

    EASTER Day.

Prayer: Father, give me an awe of You as I enter more deeply into the mystery of the Resurrection.

Promise: "Did I not assure you that if you believed you would see the glory of God displayed?" —Jn 11:40

Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus, glorified and reigning in glory. May Your name be praised forevermore!

  • Peter

Prayer: "May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ...grant you a spirit of wisdom and insight to know Him clearly" (Eph 1:17).

Promise: "Morning after morning He opens my ear that I may hear." —Is 50:4

Praise: "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord!" (Mt 21:9)
  • RISEN JESUS, I DO!
  • RISEN JESUS, I DO!
"Are you not aware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?" –Romans 6:3
To know the risen Christ in a life-changing, death-conquering way, we must be baptized in His name (Acts 2:38). If we are already baptized, we must renew our Baptisms and live them. In this way, we become aware that we "have been raised up in company with Christ" (Col 3:1). In Baptism, we know the risen Christ.
PRAYER:  Father, risen Son, and Holy Spirit, I do believe in You with all my heart.
PROMISE:  "He saw and believed." –Jn 20:8
PRAISE:  Alleluia! Jesus is risen from the dead! "This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it" (Ps 118:24). Alleluia forever!
  • "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive men's sins, they are forgiven them." —John 20:22-23
In the evening of the day on which Jesus rose from the dead, Jesus came to His disciples, showed them His nail-scarred hands and wounded side, breathed on them, gave them the Holy Spirit, and sent them out (Jn 20:19-22). Jesus sent His disciples out not to just make a general announcement of His Resurrection but to specifically invite us to confess our sins and be forgiven (see Jn 20:23; Lk 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43; 13:38).

Without Confession, our celebration of the Easter season will be aborted and not come to full term. With Confession, we will meet the risen Christ, be sent to proclaim the forgiveness of sins, and celebrate the risen Christ for the full Easter season and for eternity.

Prayer: Father, may my first Confession in this Easter season be life-changing. On this Mercy Sunday, may I experience the depth of Your ocean of mercy as You reconcile me to Yourself.

Promise: The brethren "devoted themselves to the apostles' instruction and the communal life, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." —Acts 2:42

Praise: Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life" (Jn 11:25), "the Way, and the Truth, and the Life" (Jn 14:6).

COMING
COMING

  • "Jesus was led into the desert by the Spirit." —Matthew 4:1
In Lent, the Holy Spirit leads us into the desert to speak to our heart (Hos 2:16). This spiritual desert is similar to the physical desert:

Temptations can be seen more clearly for what they are, without distraction.
Things that seem so important in the world, such as the regard of others, fade into obscurity in the spiritual desert.
Things that seem obscure in the clutter of society, such as God's opinion of you, are critically important in the desert.
Your need for God's provision and protection is acute in the desert. The consequences of rebelling against God's direction can be fatal.

Prayer: Jesus, let me count everything as loss so that I may always consider You, and You alone, to be my Wealth (Phil 3:7-8).

Promise: "Through one Man's obedience, all shall become just." —Rm 5:19

Praise: Jesus, our Bridegroom, awaits us, His bride, in His kingdom. Praise You, Lord Jesus, for Your steadfast love. We adore You.

Prayer: Father, use my life in service of the gospel (Rm 15:16).

Promise: "God has saved us and has called us to a holy life." —2 Tm 1:9

Praise: Praise the transfigured, crucified and risen, glorified body of Jesus!

  • "The woman then left her water jar and went off into the town." —John 4:28
A Samaritan woman brought her water jar to the town well to fill it with water (Jn 4:7). Jesus, sitting by the well, offered her living water instead (Jn 4:10). Jesus told her: "Whoever drinks the water I give him will never be thirsty; no, the water I give shall become a fountain within him, leaping up to provide eternal life" (Jn 4:14). The woman, filled with the flowing water of the Spirit, forgot all about well water, and simply left her water jar sitting by the well. Her only concern was to tell others about Jesus (Jn 4:28).

Prayer: Jesus, immerse me in Your living waters. "Water from the side of Christ, wash me."

Promise: "Doing the will of Him Who sent Me and bringing His work to completion is My food." —Jn 4:34

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, the crucified Resurrection and the Life! (Jn 11:25). You are "the Author of Life" (Acts 3:15).

Prayer: Father, when I renew my baptismal promises in three weeks, may I see in the fullness of my baptismal graces.

Promise: "Awake, O sleeper, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light." —Eph 5:14

Praise: "We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world."

Prayer:Father, salt me with fire (Mk 9:49).

Promise:"Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your wound shall quickly be healed."Is 58:8

Praise:Praise You, Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life" (Jn 11:25). In You we have eternal life. Alleluia!

  • HOLY TRINITY
  • HOLY TRINITY
There is a certain wisdom which is not of this age or of the rulers of this age who are headed for destruction (1 Cor 2:6). If we do not have this wisdom, we will be so ultimately foolish as to crucify the Lord of glory (1 Cor 2:8; Heb 6:6). The only way to receive this wisdom is through the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Father, I repent of quenching (1 Thes 5:19) and grieving the Spirit (Eph 4:30).

Promise: "Before man are life and death, whichever he chooses shall be given him." —Sir 15:17

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, for rising to new life and for vanquishing sin and death. Alleluia!

Prayer: Sacred Heart of Jesus, purify my heart this Lent to love the Samaritans and enemies in my life (Lk 10:29ff).

Promise: "Are you not aware that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" —1 Cor 3:16

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, Lord of forgiveness and mercy. You had mercy on those who crucified You, and You have mercy on each of us. We adore You.

Prayer: Father, may my lifestyle make no sense to someone who doesn't know You.

Promise: "With God is my safety and my glory, He is the Rock of my strength; my refuge is in God." —Ps 62:8

Praise: Praise be to the risen Jesus, Who is joy for all ages. Alleluia!

Prayer:Father, "let [Jesus'] blood be on us and on our children" (MT 27:25).

Promise:"You are no longer a slave but a son! And the fact that you are a son makes you an heir, by God's design."—GAL 4:7

Praise:Praise You, risen Lord Jesus, for making all things new (RV 21:5).Be praised and glorified in this new year.

  • "We observed His star at its rising and have come to pay Him homage." —Matthew 2:2
The wise men looked foolish. This is the only way to be wise in a foolish world. Only fools for Christ are wise (see 1 Cor 3:18; 4:10). Therefore, to be wise, we must not care about looking wise, being popular, being accepted, making money, and being successful. To be wise, we must be willing to suffer ridicule, rejection, persecution, and pain.

Christ crucified is the Wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:24). Consequently, no one wants to be wise except those who love Jesus our Wisdom (1 Cor 1:30) so much they give Him everything, prostrate themselves before Him in adoration, and suffer in the pattern of His death (Phil 3:10). Wisdom is available for the asking (Jas 1:5). But who will love Him enough to ask for it?

Prayer:Father, I choose to take up my crosses each day (LK 9:23) and become wise.

Promise:"See, darkness covers the earth, and thick clouds cover the peoples; but upon you the Lord shines, and over you appears His glory. Nations shall walk by your light, and kings by your shining radiance." —IS 60:2-3

Praise:Praise You, Jesus, Word-Made-Flesh, the Light to the nations. All glory, honor, and power be Yours forever. Alleluia!

Prayer:Father, give me the grace to die if necessary to save the lives of children in the wombs.

Promise:"It is He Who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit." —JN 1:33

Praise:Praise You, risen Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Way, the Truth, the Life, Savior, Lord, Hope, and God. We lay our lives before You. Alleluia!

Prayer:Father, may I get less busy before I get more busy. Purify me..

Promise:"Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel — not with wordy 'wisdom,' however, lest the cross of Christ be rendered void of its meaning!" —1 COR 1:17

Praise:Praise Risen Jesus, we exalt You. King of Kings, we praise and worship You. Be glorified forever.

  • Jesus
  • Jesus "began to teach them: 'How blest...' " —Matthew 5:2-3
The basic Beatitude is: "Blessed are the disciples of Jesus, who live to imitate Him." Blessedness is found by living in and for Jesus. The main thing about the Beatitudes is that they are revealed to us by Jesus and are revelations of Jesus' character. Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved and ultimately blessed (see Acts 4:12). Jesus is our only Way, Truth, and Life (Jn 14:6). God has made Jesus "our Wisdom and also our Justice, our Sanctification, and our Redemption" (1 Cor 1:30). Jesus is our Love, Hope, Joy, Lord, Savior, and God. Blessed are those living in Jesus.

Prayer:Father, send the Holy Spirit so that I will love Jesus much more deeply.

Promise:"Seek the Lord, all you humble of the earth, who have observed His law; seek justice, seek humility." —ZEP 2:3

Praise:All praise to You, Jesus, our Savior, risen Lamb of God. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords. Alleluia!
